Dear Sir, it is an honor and privilege to award the Golden Griffin to your organization's website of excellence! You gentleman have a history to be most proud of! Thank you for all you have done for this nation and our people. The freedom we all enjoy is only possible by the bravery and sacrifices of patriots like you!
Your most deserved award is attached and notice posted at Griffin's Lair
PS - I had the honor of serving a decade on a police department in upstate NY (Oswego) with a Pearl Harbor survivor, now deceased. He was a great guy, sailor, police officer and a true friend. He is missed! His name was Johnny Conzone.... all I know is he served on a "oiler" that was hit several times on Dec 7.
God bless you guys! Respectfully & in Brotherhood, Peter S. Griffin (Grif).

The 'Big E' Special Memorial Website Award
7 June 2007
Big E Caliber: The Big E, traditionally, is a Naval Ships Award, given for Efficiency and Excellence. Ships are judged during at-sea trials, ORI's (Operations Readiness Inspection, conducted by Fleet Commands) and also during training. It never is easy for a ship and crew to win this award, and so, it must also be true with those who seek Jake's 'Yankee Station' Big E Award for Websites which commemorate Ships and Crew where there was great loss of life. The site must display Excellence on a Naval Theme. However your site must also commemorate the ship and it's crew in a remarkable way, where there was extreme danger, loss of ship and/or great loss of life during a deployment. If your site wins this award, it will have earned and deserved it.
Award #10 - I.B. 'Budd' Nease's U.S.S. ARIZONA BB-39 and the Pearl Harbor Memorial - The U.S.S. ARIZONA BB-39 is one of history's most celebrated Battleships - and is especially remembered as the ship sunk in Pearl Harbor by the Japanese December 7, 1941. 1,177 sailors and Marines lost their lives aboard the ship; 335 survived and lived to tell of the Horrors.
The Yeoman of this Website (Jake's 'Yankee Station') takes great pride in awarding the 'Special Memorial Website Award' to this notable Website, and he feels this Website is, by far, one of the BEST he's seen of a Military Memorial Website (and he operates three!). I stand all amazed at what you have accomplished, to keep the Memory Alive for those lost on the ARIZONA. It also is a lasting Tribute to those who survived this tragedy, and serves to remind everyone who visits, what can happen again if we let down our guard. Terrorism is on the loose and could be an even darker enemy. Thanks so much for what you do here, and God Bless all those men who served in ARIZONA, the living and the dead.
