The 184-foot long gleaming white USS
Arizona Memorial structure spans the midsection of the sunken battleship, the USS
Arizona. The Memorial is divided into three main sections - a large entryway, an expansive assembly area, and a shrine room. Twenty-one large openings on the sides and roof admit a flood of sunlight into the central portion of the Memorial. This main assembly area is designed for ceremonies and observations, offering dramatic views of the sunken ship. At the end of the assembly area is a viewing well which allows visitors to look down on the USS
Arizona's starboard side.
