Howard Taisey Anderson was born 7 Feb 1921 to Thomas O. Anderson and Johanna K. Sund Anderson in Sharon, North Dakota. Thomas O. Anderson. and Johanna K. Sund were married 12 Sep 1907 in Sharon, ND. Thomas Anderson was born 30 November 1880 in Bergen, Norway and died 29 Mar 1925 in Sharon, ND. Hannah Sund was born "Johanna Endresen" on 19 April 1880 to Knud Andreas Endresen & Abelone Serine Torbjørnsdatter in Kopervik, Rogaland, Norway. After the death of her husband, Thomas, in 1925, Hannah then married Knute Amundson on 11 Jan 1927 in Loretta Township, Grand Forks, ND.
The 1940 census, dated April 27, shows Howard living in rural North Dakota, possibly a boarding house, in Grand Forks County where he was working as a bell boy at a nearby hotel. The census also shows he is no longer in school having completed 4 years of high school (he graduated from Central High School in 1939).
